'I love seeing friendships develop'

Volunteer Claire started leading the Oakhill Park walking group after the first lockdown in 2020

‘I enjoy meeting such lovely people doing something I love to do! And I get great personal satisfaction from the feedback and appreciation from the walkers who would not walk in the park on their own. We also have a friendly and supportive volunteer network.

‘The walking group has grown since I began in 2020. The walkers in my group have built new friendships and when we were restricted to meeting up with only one other person outdoors, a number of our walkers continued to walk in pairs. It was wonderful to see the friendships develop and continue even without the volunteers!’
