Monday

Kitchen Confidence Cookery Class at the Anne Owen Centre - East Finchley
During November and December - Monday morning 11am until 1.30 pm, 11th November, 18th November, 25th November and 2nd December.  Option to pre book for the last two classes of 2024 - 9th December and 16th December (Christmas Lunch).
This course will include delicious recipes reflecting l Traditional Pies  l Japanese inspired cuisine  l French cuisine  l St Andrews day- flavours of Scotland.   Classes are aimed at giving participants the confidence to cook more dishes at home. Participants cook in groups and then everyone sits together to eat. The recipes are designed to be recreated at home. Dementia Cafe: For people living with dementia and their carers. Meets on the first Monday of every month 2.00pm – 4.00pm. Support, advice and refreshments. Takes place at the Friends Meeting House, 53 Leicester Road, Barnet EN5 5EL. New fitness class:  Circuits and strength for active ageing - starts Wednesday 22 May 2024.
Our new circuit training class for over 55s will be led by our trainer Lance.  Takes place on Wednesdays from the new time of 9.30am - 10.15am at UNITAS Barnet Youth Zone building, 76 Montrose Ave. HA8 0DT.  £5 a session.  All levels welcome. Friday Lunch Club - from 12.45pm at the Ann Owens Centre, Oak Lane, East Finchley N2 8LT. If you are looking for a warm and welcoming place to enjoy a delicious, cooked meal and great company, why not join us for lunch, where you can meet new friends and enjoy a pleasant social time afterwards. Movement to music.  From 1.00pm -2.00pm at John Keble Church, Deans Lane, Edgware HA8 9NT.  An achievable and fun walking fitness class that will increase your step count and help you get in shape. Costs £5 a session.  (Entrance on Church Close HA8 9NS through blue gate)  Class in large hall on right after going through gate.  Also free parking on Church Close. Games Afternoon – 1st and 3rd Friday of every month from 2.00 – 4.00 pm at Trinity Church, Nether Street, North Finchley N12 7NN. Join us for board games, card games and the occasional 5-minute quiz. Tea, coffee, biscuits and sometimes cake! £1 contribution for refreshments.
We will be meeting for games every Friday in August on 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30. And in September on 20. Our normal pattern of meeting 1st and 3rd Fridays resumes in October – 4 and 18, November 1 and 15, December 6.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH celebration of black culture with Levi Roots - Monday 21 October
2024 (2-4pm).

We’re pleased that sauce entrepreneur Levi – who’s been on TV’s Dragon’s Den
and Celebrity Big Brother – will share a few more stories with us at the Ann Owens Centre, Oak
Lane in East Finchley N2 8LT. We’ll also have a talk on black Tudors, a talk by partner at Curwens
solicitors Anne Stennett, a cookery demo and taster plus some fantastic Afro-Caribbean sounds.

Support Group for those caring for someone living with dementia

We hold regular healthy cookery demos at sheltered housing venues and community centres. Themes range from eating to boost immunity, to strengthen your bones and dishes to boost heart health.
