Feel in control, beat stress - our new online wellbeing course
Published on 15 October 2020 04:29 PM
In our free 8-week wellbeing course for over 50s, you will pick up a range of useful coping strategies and tools to help you build resilience and stay well
Many problems that we face as we age such as isoation, illness, discrimination, bereavement, poor housing and financial hardship can leave us at risk of mental health problems if left unchecked.
'These issues have been exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic, leaving many people isoloated from the community and unaware of the resources available to them,' says Sam Brown from Mind in Barnet which is launching a series of online workshops to help people to build resilience, improve wellbeing and reduce isolation and loneliness.
What you will learn
You will have a weekly two-hour session:
- The first hour focuses on improving our individual awareness of our own mental health and provides practical tools to deal with issues such as stress, unhelpful thinking and grief. We will look at relaxation and mindfulness, problem solving and stress management.
- The second hour consists of a wellbeing activity that varies each week and might include yoga sessions, creative writing or a session from a musician.
Getting involved
The project is called My Generation. We will have two groups - one on Wednesday evenings and one on Friday evenings and the first sessions for each group will take place on Wednesday 28 October and Friday 30 October. You will be sent a Zoom link and time a bit closer to the date.
If you or someone you know is interested in joining a course, please get in touch, stating your preferred day. For more information or to book a place, please email Sam on sambrown@mindinbarnet.org.uk
